Wouldn't It Be Nice for British Brass Band
Wouldn't It Be Nice is a brass band tribute to The Beach Boys, with universally popular songs by Brian Wilson and the gang. I did a deep dive to see which of their hits would work best for brass. With so much variety and creativity in their catalogue to choose from, I ended up working in: I Get Around, Wouldn't It Be Nice, California Girls, God Only Knows, Good Vibrations, Sloop John B., winding up with Fun Fun Fun.
I kept close to the originals for all of the memories, but changed keys, voicings, and textures to make the presentation effective with the instruments at hand. It is about a 10 minute, high-energy trip into the musical world of the Beach Boys, and I hope it will be fun to perform and a kick to listen to.
