Ed Bryan, Book & Lyrics
Ed Bryan has performed, produced, and directed many theater productions throughout Eastern Washington over the last 40 years. He is a Washington State University graduate in Civil Engineering, with a serious interest in theater, but with no formal training in the art. However over the years Ed has learned a great deal about the art of acting, directing, set construction and production of a theater show. In his latest show, The Gin Game, Ed played Weller Martin, co-produced, designed and built the set, raised the money to produce this show in three different theaters in the Spokane area: Woodland Theater in Kettle Falls, WA; Stage Left Theater in Spokane, WA; and the Spokane Civic Theatre in Spokane, WA. Raising over $7500 for the theaters mentioned. In 2009 Ed wrote a musical play depicting a State Farm Insurance management person (an AFE) and a State Farm Agent which was performed at a the regional meeting of agent and AFE's in Walla Walla, WA. |
William Berry, Composer
William Berry, winner of the 2003 Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship for music, is a musician whose career encompasses every aspect of the field. He has found success as a performer, composer, arranger, director, producer, writer, and educator. William is a member of ASCAP and his compositions and arrangements have been commissioned and performed by professional ensembles throughout the country. In 1992 William founded and is artistic director of the 13 member brass choir, Clarion, which has recorded and produced four compact discs of his original compositions and arrangements from 2000 to 2013. |
In the past several years, William’s compositions have been performed by many quality organizations, including: Canadian Brass, Seattle Symphony, New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Spokane Symphony, Portland Chamber Orchestra, Modern Brass Quintet of New York, and many more. Jean Hardie, Director
Jean Hardie has been active in theatre in Spokane and the surrounding region since moving there in 1981. She has acted in, directed, and choreographed many, many shows at Spokane Civic Theatre, Spokane Children’s Theatre and many others including the Lake City Playhouse in Coeur d’Alene. She may be best known for playing the role of Mother Superior in various Nunsense's more than 150 times. She has appeared as a guest artist with the North Idaho Symphony narrating Peter and the Wolf and other pieces. |
She taught drama at Saint George's School for 17 years, was the director of the Box 'n' Hat Players, a musical theatre touring troupe for middle and high schoolers, for 20 years and was the director of the Civic Summer Camp program for 14 years. Jean is a recipient of the Spokane Civic Theatre Lifetime Achievement Award and a Spokane Arts Award for her work with young performers. Over the past three years, she has had two one-act plays accepted for production with the Spokane Civic Playwrights Forum, and, during that same time she came on board the Moby Dick team, an involvement that led to her directing the successful workshop production of Moby Dick – A Musical in April of 2019.
Annie Flood, Music Director
Annie Flood is thrilled to continue the adventure as Music Director with Moby Dick - A Musical as it sails toward the 2020 Chicago Musical Theatre Festival. In Spokane, Annie serves as the collaborative pianist/coach of the Gonzaga University Voice Department. Trained as both a pianist and vocalist herself, she loves the challenge that vocal music presents of combining poetic and musical ideas in performance. When not at Gonzaga, Annie often plays keyboard for shows at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre and Spokane Valley Summer Theatre, and was Music Director for Whitworth University’s production of The Spitfire Grill last year. She also keeps busy as pianist/organist at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church and accompanist for several local school groups. Originally from Maryland, Annie worked extensively with various musical groups in the Baltimore and Annapolis area before making the move out west, including the Peabody Institute Opera Outreach, The Colonial Players of Annapolis, and the United States Naval Academy. Passionate about the impact of music on community, she has also taught private piano and voice lessons, and was active in initiatives that aim to spread classical music and positive change throughout Baltimore. Annie earned her Master of Music in Vocal Accompanying from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Notre Dame. |
Pascal Innocenti, Violin
Pascal Innocenti is a versatile Chicago-based violinist who is adept in many styles from Classical to Jazz, Baroque and Contemporary. His playing has been called “reverent” by the Chicago Tribune. After traveling the world touring with his string quartet he has made Chicago his home. Originally from Monaco, he studied in Paris before winning full-ride scholarships to attend Aspen Music Festival and Cincinnati Conservatory for his Masters Degree in violin performance. He has enjoyed teaching and performing in the Chicago area for the past 10 years with groups such as Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra, and Baroque Band. His recording credits with Cedille Records include a CD with Baroque Band and a recording with Rachel Barton Pine as well as collaborations with his Jazz Trio “Voila”. His performance career has included appearances live on WFMT, and as a soloist with L’Orchestre Philharmonic de Monaco. He is the Founder of innocentistrings.com, a company that provides string ensembles for special events all over the country. Besides his violin playing, Pascal is an accomplished endurance athlete. He is an Ironman finisher and has completed many marathons, with a smile. |
Trudy Rogers, Stage Manager
Trudy Rogers has directed, performed, choreographed, and crewed on many production teams for over 40 years. Currently Trudy is one of two resident Properties Managers at Spokane Civic Theatre. Her spare time is spent fostering for the local animal shelter; bottle babies being her favorite. Grandma Trudy has just welcomed her first grandchild, Rylan, into the world. She would like to give a special “thank you” to her husband for supporting her crazy adventures. I love you to the moon and back. |
Kevin Blair (Doughboy) is a Chicago actor and creator. He is happy to return to CMTF after appearing in Unison (Awarded Best Ensemble) in 2019. Grant Brown (Father Mapple, Fedallah) couldn't be more excited about being in his first show in Chicago. He is a recent graduate of Illinois State University where some of his previous credits include Oedipus (Oedipus), Vinegar Tom (Jack), and 1776 (Richard Henry Lee). Before up rooting to Illinois, he worked professionally in Colorado at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (9 to 5, Guys and Dolls) as well as The Colorado Springs Conservatory (Born Blue, Zanna Don't!, The Fantasticks).
Hope Campbell (Gail) graduates from University of Chicago this year with BAs in Theatre and English! She has acted with UChicago and the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. Her favorite credits include Peter and the Starcatcher (Molly Aster), Love’s Labour’s Lost: A New Musical (Maria), and Grenadine (Grove). She’s been honored to guide one-woman improv adventures at 5Wits Foxboro, and to teach youth ensemble and improv at The Revival. She is currently a Research Fellow in dramaturgy at Court Theatre. Offstage, she’s a dramaturg and a playwright! Infinite love to Mom, Dad, Tess, and Zander!
Melody DeRogatis (Aunt Charity) is so excited to be joining the cast of Moby Dick! Recent Chicago credits include: Dazed and Cornfused, Happy Holly-Daze (Cornservatory), The Facts of Life: Satan's School for Girls (Hell in a Handbag), Medusa (Pop Magic Productions), This is America (Surging Theatrics), and Scary Stories to Save Your Life (About Face Theatre). Melody is also an ensemble member at Imagination Theatre. Off stage, Melody is a playwright, who has been produced in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Des Moines! Melody would like to thank her parents, the company of Moby Dick, and Chicago itself for support and opportunity.

She has performed throughout the United States and Europe with numerous companies including: Theo Ubique, Prague Summer Nights, Haymarket Opera, Opera Colorado, Kor Productions, Janus Concert Series, American Chamber Opera, Surging Films and Theatrics, Wilmette Center for the Arts, EDGE of Orion, Devonshire Playhouse, and the Opera Training Institute of Chicago. Zander Galluppi (Bildad, Captain Gardiner) is delighted to be making his CMTF and regional theater debut in Moby Dick – A Musical! His recent community and academic theater credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream (Theseus, Hyde Park Community Players), Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead (Polonius, UChicago), Animals Out of Paper (Andy, UChicago), and Peter & the Starcatcher (Smee, UChicago). He is currently also pursuing a PhD in Immunology at the University of Chicago. Zander would like to thank his parents, sister, and the incomparable Hope Campbell for all their love and support.
William Garry (Ahab) has recently moved from Alaska to Spokane, Washington, with his wife and son. Moby Dick - A Musical with its Ahab character is a perfect fit, and he has enjoyed the opportunity to bring it to life on stage. He has sung 30+ major roles in opera, musical theater, oratorio and on the concert stage, along with numerous small engagements. He also has given voice lessons through the University of Alaska Anchorage. Ahab is a “once in a lifetime role.”
Aszkara Gilchrist (Sally, Wig Seller) is a recent graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she majored in Musical Theatre. Since moving to Chicago, in addition to performing at CMTF, Aszkara has appeared in the Bone Harp workshop at Underscore Theatre (Jenny Allen). Her past productions include Twelfth Night (Sir Andrew), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Deputy), and a world premiere musical titled The Luck of Roaring Camp (Cherokee Sal). Aszkara is proud to be part of the Moby Dick crew.
Nate Hall (Ishmael) is absolutely thrilled to be working with Underscore once again and with the whole Moby crew on their maiden CMTF voyage! His regional credits include The Ballad of Lefty & Crabbe (Underscore); Bonnie & Clyde, The Fantasticks (Madkap Productions); Lucky: A Musical (Second City); Kirche Kuche Kinder (Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival); Yippee Ki-Yay: Merry Christmas! (Yippee Productions, LLC); The Fires of Nero (Phoenix Rising Productions; as well as The Selfish Giant (Ghostlight Ensemble). A selection of his college appearances include Avenue Q, Our Country's Good, Heathers, RENT, Arcadia, and Twelfth Night (Texas Tech University). Nate is also currently co-writing and composing the folk-rock horror musical Stabbed In The Heart and the divorce-drama It All Comes Down. He can also be seen in CMTF’s staged reading of Adventurers on February 17th.
Aaron Johnson (Stubb) is glad to be making his debut with the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival in Moby Dick - A Musical. His past roles include Gabe (Next to Normal), Adult Male (Spring Awakening), and Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Chris Jowett (Bulkington) started performing in community theater in North Carolina when he was 10 years-old and found a knack for doing comedies. He moved to Chicago in 2015 to achieve his BA in Comedy Writing and Performance at Columbia College Chicago where he just graduated this past May. Since moving to Chicago he has performed in countless improv shows and a handful of sketch shows throughout the city and he is now eager to apply those skills back into his old love: theatre! He’d like to thank his parents for their constant support, his brother, Chase, for absolutely crushing high school, and the comedy professors at Columbia for their wisdom. Other credits include: Sean in Proxy (Underscore Theatre); Dick/Ensemble in 9 to 5: the Musical (Big Noise Theatre); Matt in Fugitive Songs (2018 Workshop) (Miller and Tysen); Jeff in [title of show] (Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre); Franklin Hart Jr. in 9 to 5: the Musical, and Duke Senior/Duke Frederick in As You Like It (Millikin University Mainstage). Kyle received his degree in Musical Theatre performance from Millikin University.
Peyton Lynch (Peter Coffin, Peleg, Carpenter) is an actor, writer and improviser in the Chicago area. He graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor’s degree in Acting where he performed in Rent and Spring Awakening. He has performed in a few shows in the Rehoboth Beach area including: Seussical, Little Women, Company, Grease, and She Loves Me. He also co-hosts a podcast about queer cinema called “Queer Movie Night”. He is very excited to be making his Chicago acting debut in Moby Dick.
Courtney Miller (Pippin) is thrilled to make her CMTF debut in Moby Dick! Favorite past roles include: Young Bonnie in Bonnie & Clyde (MadKap Productions), Susan Waverly in White Christmas (Forte Productions), Ensemble in A Christmas Carol (Metropolis Performing Arts Center), “Michael Banks” in Mary Poppins (Fremont Street), Belinda/Fran/Wants in Scrooge and the Ghostly Spirits (Citadel Theatre), and Chip in Beauty and the Beast (Fremont Street). Courtney is an 8th grader from Park Ridge, and when not on stage can be found sewing, reading, crafting, or making music. She thanks her family and friends for supporting her passion for theater!

Sean Rhead (Elijah/Daggoo) is delighted to return to the CMTF in this beautiful adaptation. He was previously seen as Mr. Barker in My Dear Watson in last year’s festival. Other recent credits include Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol: the Musical (BrightSide Theatre), Claude Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Jedlicka PAC), and South Pacific (Dunes Summer Theatre). He also has a growing number of audiobooks available for download on Audible. Peter Ruger (Queequeg) is thrilled to be making his Chicago Musical Theatre Festival debut in Moby Dick! Ruger is a proud Chicagoan; he grew up in Oak Park and got his masters degree in music from Roosevelt University.
Charlie Scriven-Young (James) is currently an 8th grader at Crone Middle School in Naperville. He enjoys singing, acting, and dancing. He started acting about 3 years ago. He has appeared in Magical Starlight Theatre's The Little Mermaid and Tarzan and Little Mountain Theatre's productions of Barnum and Mamma Mia. In January he played the Mayor of the Munchkin City in MST's Wizard of Oz. Some of his favorite roles include Tantor the Elephant and Chester Lyman. He would like to thank four amazing ladies: Heather Hutchison, Kris Visher, Kandiss Hernandez, and De Haddad for being amazing mentors and directors. Love you mom, dad, and Henry. When Charlie is not acting, he can be found working on his 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo. Hannah Silverman (Annie) is delighted to be making her professional Chicago debut! Recent credits include Black Beard the Pirate with Missoula Children’s Theatre, Varya in The Cherry Orchard, and Susan in Tick Tick Boom. She also performed in The King Is Dead at Stage 773 with the non-profit Our Art of Giving. She recently graduated from Macalester College where she studied theatre, dance, and music, and she spent a semester studying acting at the Moscow Art Theatre School. Outside of the theatre, Hannah spends time writing original music that will soon be available to stream!
Ginny Weant (Mary Starbuck) is quickly establishing herself as bright soprano of both the musical theater and operatic stage. Her repertoire includes Adele (Die Fledermaus), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Oberto (Alcina), The Shepherd Boy (Tannhäuser), Fiona (Brigadoon), Penny Pingleton (Hairspray) and Alice (Alice in Wonderland). Recently, she performed with the Princeton Festival in their production of Nixon in China, and with On-Site Opera as Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro and as the title role in the Ballad of the Baby Mouse in NYC. She also performed as a cast member with Disney Cruise Lines on the Fantasy and the Wonder.

Sean Rhead (Elijah/Daggoo) is delighted to return to the CMTF in this beautiful adaptation. He was previously seen as Mr. Barker in My Dear Watson in last year’s festival. Other recent credits include Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol: the Musical (BrightSide Theatre), Claude Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Jedlicka PAC), and South Pacific (Dunes Summer Theatre). He also has a growing number of audiobooks available for download on Audible. Peter Ruger (Queequeg) is thrilled to be making his Chicago Musical Theatre Festival debut in Moby Dick! Ruger is a proud Chicagoan; he grew up in Oak Park and got his masters degree in music from Roosevelt University.
Charlie Scriven-Young (James) is currently an 8th grader at Crone Middle School in Naperville. He enjoys singing, acting, and dancing. He started acting about 3 years ago. He has appeared in Magical Starlight Theatre's The Little Mermaid and Tarzan and Little Mountain Theatre's productions of Barnum and Mamma Mia. In January he played the Mayor of the Munchkin City in MST's Wizard of Oz. Some of his favorite roles include Tantor the Elephant and Chester Lyman. He would like to thank four amazing ladies: Heather Hutchison, Kris Visher, Kandiss Hernandez, and De Haddad for being amazing mentors and directors. Love you mom, dad, and Henry. When Charlie is not acting, he can be found working on his 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo. Charlie loves The Office and Gordon Ramsay and would like to be a food critic or police officer when he grows up!
Adriana Schallack (Daniel) is 9 years old and in the 3rd grade. She is thrilled to be in her first production with her big brother Stefan! You can also see her in Beauty and the Beast Jr. May 2020 with Thin Ice Ensemble Theatre.
Stefan Schallack (Flask) is excited to be making his CMTF debut. Recent Chicago productions include Winnie The Pooh (Citadel Theatre) and As You Like It (CenterStage in Lake Forest). You can also catch him in CMTF’s staged reading of The Adventurers on the 17th and understudying for Teatro Vista’s The Dream King this spring. Hannah Silverman (Annie) is delighted to be making her professional Chicago debut! Recent credits include Black Beard the Pirate with Missoula Children’s Theatre, Varya in The Cherry Orchard, and Susan in Tick Tick Boom. She also performed in The King Is Dead at Stage 773 with the non-profit Our Art of Giving. She recently graduated from Macalester College where she studied theatre, dance, and music, and she spent a semester studying acting at the Moscow Art Theatre School. Outside of the theatre, Hannah spends time writing original music that will soon be available to stream!
Ginny Weant (Mary Starbuck) is quickly establishing herself as bright soprano of both the musical theater and operatic stage. Her repertoire includes Adele (Die Fledermaus), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Oberto (Alcina), The Shepherd Boy (Tannhäuser), Fiona (Brigadoon), Penny Pingleton (Hairspray) and Alice (Alice in Wonderland). Recently, she performed with the Princeton Festival in their production of Nixon in China, and with On-Site Opera as Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro and as the title role in the Ballad of the Baby Mouse in NYC. She also performed as a cast member with Disney Cruise Lines on the Fantasy and the Wonder.
