Horace Silver's 1959 chart is one of the coolest blues riffs and substitutions I know. Not over the top but just right. Hypnotic is the operative word here, so the repetitive patterns are spread around some. I wrote out some improv solo sketches as suggestions, but they really ought to be improvised. Opportunities for solos are available for both trumpets and the tuba, or anyone in the ensemble with a little creativity. The digital download includes all parts [2 trumpets, horn, trombone & tuba] plus a reference score and an mp3 MIDI recording.
