This compact version of the ballet takes on all of the famous themes in order to tell the whole story, but somewhat curtailed and with humorous quotes from popular music providing commentary on the action. Tchaikovsky's melodies are so well-known that the story practically tells itself without the dance, but the performing group ought to at least give the audience fair warning of what they are in for.
